1. What This Page Is For

This page is for residents of the United States. If your state has a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you have the right to tell us not to sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. This page is how you do that.

As of the date above, the states with such laws include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia. Nevada has a separate opt-out right under NRS Chapter 603A. The exact rights and exceptions vary by state.

We apply this opt-out to every U.S. visitor who asks for it, regardless of which state you live in. We would rather honour an opt-out we did not strictly owe than argue about state lines.

3. Global Privacy Control — The Automatic Option

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a signal your browser sends to every website you visit, telling them you do not want your personal information sold or shared. It is recognised as a valid opt-out under the laws of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon and Texas.

We detect and honour GPC. When we receive a GPC signal we treat it as an opt-out automatically — you do not need to click anything or fill in this page. Some browsers, including Brave and Firefox, can send GPC by default. Others support it through an extension. Details at globalprivacycontrol.org.

4.2 Categories We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, telephone number, postal address, date of birth, driver's licence number, VIN, Social Security number, financial account information, or precise GPS location. We do not collect any category of sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA or comparable state laws, so there is nothing for a 'limit the use of sensitive personal information' request to act upon. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

The email address you give here is used solely to verify and answer your request, and to keep the record of it that state law requires us to keep. It is never added to a marketing list and never passed to a partner.

7. Verification — and Why It Is Awkward Here

Most websites verify a privacy request by matching your name or email against an account. We hold neither. Our records are keyed to cookie and click identifiers, not to people.

This has two practical consequences:

An opt-out is easy. It applies to a browser, so no verification is needed — just click the button in Section 2 or enable GPC.
Access and deletion are harder. Without an identifier from your visit, we may be genuinely unable to find any record that relates to you. If that happens we will tell you so, explain why, and treat the request as a request about the categories of information we handle generally.

We will never ask you for more information than is necessary to handle a request, and anything you send for verification is used only for that purpose.

⚠ We cannot reverse processing already carried out by advertising platforms before your opt-out. We can only stop future sharing. To exercise rights over data those platforms hold independently, contact them directly using the links in our Cookie Policy. The same applies to any partner site you have already visited and interacted with.

9. Appeals

If we decline your request, you may appeal within 60 days by emailing privacy@coveragefinderusa.com with the subject line 'Privacy Request Appeal'. Tell us the original request, the date, and why you think our decision was wrong.

We will respond in writing within 45 days, setting out our reasoning. If we uphold the refusal, we will give you a way to contact your state Attorney General to complain.

10. Authorised Agents

You may appoint an authorised agent to act for you. The agent must provide either written authorisation signed by you, or a valid power of attorney (in California, pursuant to Probate Code sections 4000 to 4465). We may contact you to confirm the authorisation. Where a valid power of attorney is supplied, we will not additionally require you to verify your own identity.

11. Non-Discrimination and Financial Incentives

We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. We will not deny you access to the Website or its content, charge you anything, provide a lesser level of service, or suggest that we might.

We do not offer financial incentives, price differences or service differences in exchange for the collection, retention, sale or sharing of personal information.

12. Additional State-Specific Rights

12.1 California — Shine the Light

Under California Civil Code § 1798.83, California residents may request once per calendar year information about personal information disclosed to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing purposes. Email privacy@coveragefinderusa.com with the subject line 'Shine the Light Request'.

12.2 California — Minors

Under California Business and Professions Code § 22581, a California resident under 18 who has posted content on a site may request its removal. Our Website is for adults and does not host user posts, but if you believe a minor's information has been collected, tell us and we will delete it.

12.3 Nevada

Nevada residents may submit a verified request under NRS Chapter 603A directing us not to sell certain covered information. Email us with the subject line 'Nevada Opt-Out'.

12.4 Maryland

Maryland law prohibits the sale of sensitive personal information outright. We do not collect sensitive personal information at all, and we do not sell it.
